Containers again

I have just been reading on the news that the Dutch Coastguard are trying to locate 26 empty containers afloat in the North sea. That would cause some worry, especially at night, and in a small coaster !!!, or even something bigger, kt

Can’t imagine them floating for ever unless they are watertight, will eventually sink where they could still cause as much trouble as when floating. Out of sight out of mind does not apply today there are all sorts on the bottom now including capped wellheads, pipelines and numerous other bits and pieces . Very rare to drop an anchor these days around any installations . JS

#2 John S. In addition too the list you mentioned there a large number of offshore wind farms all around the British coast. The way it is going navigation will be a nightmare. Ever time you look out to sea more and more appear. This is a list of those at the present time.

Empty containers?
Now are these ones that have been emptied, or ones that have been beached and looted?

If one could come up with a sure fire easy way to find and lift all those containers off the seabed they would make a fortune, the latest price I saw to hire one for shipment was around $1,700, which beggars the question, how much money a smuggler was going to make when they discovered a container that should have held Glass, but contained 12 bales of tobacco in Sydney.

Bill, you are not wrong there mate, I have been expecting a collision for sometime now, I think it might be inevitable once that big Dogger bank site is built.
