Thought anyone who visited Capetown in the past, always enjoyed my run ashore there, and visited a few years ago with my wife, couldn't tell her all the stories from the past , lol. Seems there is a real problem with water in Capetown, and this bit of news on the BBC site today,

The Stars were painted of course, but on a bad day one thought that it was real as you gazed up with Bloodshot Eyes! LOL

The Playhouse in Durban had a similar layout also the stars. Have a feeling they were owned by he same outfit. JS

#4, those were the days, when regardless of rank or rating we went ashore suited and booted, not like these days in our 'kiss me quick town' for stag and hen parties where dress of the day winter or summer, is skimpy dresses and skirts just below sea level and best football shirt and jeans/football shorts for the males

The old expression we had Ivan, *my best go ashores*, even on the likes of the BBC, reporters all wore a tie, now you see many with open neck shirt. Go to a funeral now and us with a suit and black tie stand out like a beacon, kt

Seeing stars was quite common there, but I found using the kerb as a pillow did no good to your neck.

WE al have stories about those bars, only those such as us would believe the stories if we told them.
There was a big water shortage in Cape Town last year but the Joburg lady in the bank told me it was now OK.

#9. saw a news item where hundreds of trees on mountainside above Capetown were being chopped down as they were soaking up the rainwater intended for the reservoirs. Seems to be effective.
