Re: Antartica
Yes aw that bit, but the most interesting fact here is that global weather record keeping only began in 1948.
Prior to that all we had was individual countries records all taken in their own way.
Now the recording is the same for all countries, one standard.
Maybe that is why I doubt a lot of the info given about global warming.
Most of it I thin k is being used for either for political or economic policy.

Re: Antartica
I was in the Antarctic in 2009, and the temp was down to 65 c below,.and not even in winter
That is COLD,
The Weddel Sea ice was 15 feet thick.the BAS ship could not sail through it.
there is no global warming,, Maybe Solar warming.
The earth travels around the sun in an elliptical circle. so sometimes it is closer to the sun and sometimes further away.

Re: Antartica
10,000 years ago, Bolton was under 200 feet of ice.FACT,
UK was was joined to europe across the Channel and North Sea with ice. FACT.
What Happened?
Since the earth was formed it has changed.in the thousands of years before human activity.. and will always change.
The Antarctic once was tropical with rain forests, that is why there is oil and coal under the ice.
the South Pole used to be located in the area around central Africa.
Antarctica was once connected to Australia before it broke away and move south.

Re: Antartica
Lewis, it was the Vikings that gave Greenland that name.
When they found it there was indeed a very green land, though scientists will say that prior to that time it was ice covered.
