    Default Seaweed

Seaweed has many useful uses but in Mexico it is causing major problems to its tourist beaches in Cancun.

Eels,if you go up the waterway linking Rotterdam to moerdijk, there is one stretch where heavily regulated fishermen catch eels, that according to the pilots live and breed there and are considered to be a great delacy having been born there and lived there life there, only problem is that in order to maintain there stock they have had to import live eels from northern Ireland so the cloggies are paying a load of moolah for Dutch/ Irish hybrid eels.
As a youngster I would go swimming in a nearby tarn. This was a natural tarn but man made by a local landowner who used it as his own fishing tarn having introduced trout and perch into it many years previously. It also supported eels, though whether he had introduced them or they came by another method I haven't the faintest idea, only know I did not like the slimy things.

Not an expert, but i was always lead to believe, that after spawning, they travel overland if needed to meet a waterway that leads to the sea, and go to the Saraggaso to die ?, interesting subject, kt

Seaweed is great for mulching the flowerbeds, it's good for water retention and feeds the soil, I don't do it nowadays but used to collect a sackful, now
you can buy it as a compost or liquid feed, it's good stuff.
I can remember coming home from school in 1950 and in the scullery was a bucket of water with eels in it, mum said Reece {my brother in law} had
caught them and she was going to cook them, "easier said than done" we had a big Butler sink , we tipped the eels into the sink, it was impossible to
pick them up but using a teatowel did the trick, I tried a bang on the head as you did with a fish but they became more lively, mum lost patience and
took a carving knife from the draw, I had to hold them while the executioner did her work, it was brutal, I kid you not, I don't think we had them again
    after that , cheers

We had a Bunnings in this area about three years ago Doc, they took over a Homebase store but were gone in under two years, I thought they were
ok but Homebase is an old established business and a hard act to follow, I bought several things from Bunnings but always preferred Homebase, maybe
I'm a creature of habit, anyway after they moved out, Homebase moved back in, and all's back normal but no more BBQ sausages outside , cheers.

Where do the worms come from in the human body , also in the animal body, at one time they were considered like manifests of fleas on humans and were just like pieces of thread. The only way could find was by peering up ones backside. The present epidemic is nothing new in the medical world and there will always be adversary’s for people who study medical science. JS.

We have a beach not far from us and there is always a plethora of sea weed there.
It is left to rot for some time before harvesting, the odor can be a bit on the high side at times.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
