U.K., USA and Australia
A new defence alliance has been signed by the three countries covering such items of naval capability, cyber warfare and artificial intelligence.
This alliance will allow Australia to build new submarines, cancelling the contract with France for new subs and replacing them with nuke powered subs.
This is in response to China doubling it's size of its armed forces annually.

Re: U.K., USA and Australia
Apparently 16 French submarines gone, and 11 M&S stores, we certainly need to watch the Chinese situation carefully, kt

Re: U.K., USA and Australia
Lewis, I don't think we will see an E. U. ARMY, who will contribute the most? Think this one of those pie in the Sky ideas.
The old Eastern Block countries are rattling their sabres against E. U. control, if did happen they will stay out.
As far as NATO, it won't break up, after all the E. U. countries don't make the minimum contributions required by NATO.

Re: U.K., USA and Australia
Mostly about the Nuclear Driven Subs this is, not being built here but will come from the USA , which is a pretty Penny n the Sky Rockets! The deal with France was called off not because of time, but because these new Subs will be far better for our use, much longer ranges compared to any other Type.
But with all that said i wonder now (As China has already got a Bee in their Bonnet) how things will pan out!
I think we will all have to watch out closely to see !
Me i dont like it at all, (Not the Purchase of the Subs) but the anger of the Chinese over all this! They are a mighty powerful Nation Military wise!

Re: U.K., USA and Australia
Lewis, the subs on order from France was for nuclear subs to be converted to diesel as we do not allow nuclear here.
The French would not be delivering them until 2035 at the earliest.
This lot from USA/UK will be here quicker than that and afar better deal.
They will be nuclear powered but no nuclear goods on Oz soil.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: U.K., USA and Australia
Watching the Chinese response on TV, was a throwback to the days of the Soviet Union.
Soviets piled rouble after rouble building their forces with the latest technology, soon as the west did something different we were the aggressors.
China pushing its borders further and further, now as we develop a pact to contain
we, the West are aggressors.
Good day for ruffling feathers, poor Froggies crying into their wines.
Vic
According to one source the subs could be powered by Rolls Royce Nuclear Reactors.

Re: U.K., USA and Australia
FACT : When a goose flying in formation and gets sick or wounded , or shot down, two other geese will also drop
out and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then they launch out again on their on , or with another formation to catch up with their flock.
LESSON: If we have the sense of a Goose, we will stand by our colleagues and each other in difficult times as well as in good !

Good anology John, the country in question is good at going its own way, whilst being a member of the flock.
