The French, not the leaders just the man in the streets.
No different from you and I.

But a friend in Paris a couple of years ago wet to buy some bread.
Could n/ot understand why she was not being served, then she twigged.

Called out I am an Aussie not a Pom.
Service after that was great she said, they thought she looked like a Pom.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

It was a well documented fact that a few years back, cars with GB plates in France could virtually guarantee a pull by the French police at some point in their journey.

    Hi John,
    When in Ireland,
Went into a pub and were made to feel unwelcome.
They thought we were Yanks, until I told them we were Canadian.
    How things changed.

Had same experience in Sasebo, dryocked for about 3 weeks the town was split in half virtually with the half we were in was off limits to yanks. When we went into shops , bars, restaurants we were met with strange looks and polite but cold service until one of them was curious enough to ask and the whole attitude changed when we said we were British. We did often go into the American half and had no probs with the yanks, and on occasion got a lift in their shore patrol paddy wagon back to our side of the divide. They also let us use their PX, still got a Seiko watch I got there.

Same in Cuba today, huge playground for Canadians, but a n no for the Yanks. When i was there a few years ago, there was a yank there trying to cash his dollars in the hotel, he could not believe that they would not do so, the banks carried a 14% surcharge for US$. I tried to explain to him, and the situation of 62, but that was before he was born , kt

Last time I was in Cuba, almost 10 years ago, there were no Yanks.
But the Cubans were building big hotels getting ready for the Yank invasion.
There were lots of French Canadians there.
    Enough said.

Many say wines do not travel well, just means they keep the best, loved one in Portugal called BSE,
we were there when the beef scare was on here.

I live in France so I pay in Euros. Heard no more about it. BUT little did I know my wife sent an online payment from our UK account.

If I was the Australians I would recall the Australian ambassador. Send back the bill and a decent bottle of Australian wine and ask if France really wants to start a wine trade war????
From al accounts I doubt much of the bill will be paid.
The contract was so far behind sand so many complaints about that being made little will happen.
