Im see the French are truly miffed, and withdrawn their envoys from Australia and USA, don't think that will worry us a great deal. It is also rumoured the the Dutch prime minister wishes to offer the UK a partnership in the EU defence, information, security etc, which could be a good thing as long as it does not affect our independence from EU. We all need to watch very carefully all these migrants from a security situation, as i feel that terrorism will intensify in the next fore seeable future, kt

The French have a very selective memory; their ambassador to USA trying to guilt trip America by telling them not to forget it was the French navy who turned the tide of the American revolution a few hundred years ago, he somehow forgot how many American and British lives (not to forget other commonwealth and Europeans) who gave their lives to free France (some parts at least) from the nazis in more recent history.

#33: RE: France Australian United Kingdom United States deal yes? They might have to re think the Acronym FAUKUS.

Might actually have been a better arrangement in reality Lewis.

Lewis, never heard of the Auld Alliance?
Scotland and France were at war with England.
A plan was developed to devide the English Army, Scotland would attack from the North, France would invade from the South.
Guess what? THE Froggies didn't turn up.

They will not ban wines Lewis, every Frenchman must know they are far superior than the rubbish on supermarket shelves, as to the dislike of the French, you don't have to be very old to remember the last world war, and jumping from side to side. The sort i heard, don't know if true, but when fighting the French in the bow and arrow era, our bowmen were renown for being superior, so if the French captured our bowmen, they cut off the fletching fingers. Now most battles used to start by lining up and hurling insults at each other, and our bowmen used to flash the two fingered insult to them to show we were fully fit. as said, don't know if true, but i like it, kt

Interesting that this development follows news that UK now has rules and specifications for building and operating nuclear merchant ships. Hopefully we can now get some smallscale nuclear generating systems.

Regarding the submarine thingy — i am under the impression the new Submarines are being built in Australia with shared UK and USA input, design and the like. Also, if a contract is so far behind it should be ended.
When i departed UK very early 1961, Cammel Llaird’s shipyard in Birkenhead had just lost a 5 year backlog of ship orders due to delayed schedules caused by strikes and other problems. I understand France had already been paid billions for completed work, so can’t complain too much. Anyway, are the subs to be Aussie built ?
