Lewis, we did at one time have East Enders but the ABC took it off.
Emerdale may have been on some station but never saw it here in Victoria.

As to land, it was a time when the quarter acre block was standard but things have changed.

Councils here, like most, are mad for the money.
the more houses the more rates they claim from them, council taxes I think UK call them.

So with changing times and work patterns the Town house became popular, bit like the Terraced ones in UK but a variation on them,.

The block sizes were cut, from 1,000 sq meters to as low as 400.
More rates and more profit for the builders.
WE are on one of the older blocks at about 900 sq meters, there ae still many of them in the older areas.
As to price, we paid $50,000 for this some27 years ago, now for a 400 you can pay as much as $300,000 that is inflation for you.

But more people are now moving out from the city regions to the outer suburbs where there are still large blocks and more fresh air.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Talking of tower blocks, a Chinese tower block started swaying for no apparent reason.
There was no reported quakes in the area, no apparent cracks in the ground, and no apparent damage to the building.
    Authorities are mystified.

All manner of odd things go on in China.
Could be the Pandas attempting to escape, or maybe Mao is not dead and trying for a come back.
