Latest I heard was that apparently,
eight tugboats were working to free the vessel.

Well Lewis according to those who know a great amount of oil goes through the canal.
Must be true, last night oil prices went up by $5 a barrel.

Latest here is that it is believed the backlog caused by the blockage could take ‘several days to weeks to clear’.

The 200,000-tonne Ever Given has not been partially re-floated, authorities said after providing inaccurate information about the rescue operation earlier. which is still aground in the Suez Canal, was reportedly suspended but, due to restart today.

The $5 rise really has nothing to do with delays in the Suez situation, but is oil traders taking advantage of a situation exploiting the lack of knowledge by the public at large who are probably unaware that there are numerous tankers worldwide waiting to discharge their cargoes for a number of reasons, no berths available or the opportunity of this sudden golden handshake. Tanker owners will already be calculating the costs of diversions around the Cape against their vessels waiting for transit and weighed against the market advantage in certain geographical markets. To say the canal situation alone increased the oil price by any amount is to over simplify matters.

Yet another full load oil cargo leaving the Forth bound Ningbo, China on MT Amyntas, a 320785 DWT tanker is at 20mtr draft, no doubt eastward bound via Suez Canal. Yet another £300million plus of our black gold to buy more tat, or to be pfaffed against the wall by Boris!

According to BBC online news, the Ever Given could be beached for weeks. They are now talking of removing containers and fuel to make her lighter.
