Yesterday as the world will now know W.A. Voted for its next premier for the next 4 years. And as forecasted the sitting premier was returned with a huge majority. Yesterday however this did not prevent the media and all the pollster advisers doing their usual bit of spouting, juggling figures around as to why and where the liberals went wrong. They could have given this tv time to something else , like a good cowboy movie , which would of been much more interesting to most viewers. I am as have always have said do not vote for any particular party as they mean nothing to me as they are. All after the same thing ...Power. I said 6 months ago who I. Would be voting for and nothing changed my mind since then. I voted for people not policy. The present government of W.A.has what the other party does not have , and that is one word... Discipilne , and sticking to what they state whenever possible. A lot of the present ministers are ex service people and whatever else they learned during service life would be a certain amount of discipline some of which will have been retained by them. This discipline is sadly lacking in other walks of life today. Even as ex merchant seamen we all had to live with it , even though as young and wild at times tried to dispend with it, but retribution in one form or another always caught up. Best of luck to the continuation of the present WA government and hope they will be there as long as they continue with their commitments. Cheers JS.

#3... went to a talk by Brian Burke at the Probus club a couple of years ago. He was promoting his new book at that time. Was not particularly impressed , unless of course prison had made him that way. Lived in the foothills at Kelmscott at one time , there had been bush fires in the hills and came home from up North to find the wife had the car packed up ready for evacuation. None of my gear in the car I noticed . JS

My sister and her husband live up in the hills of Perth. They had to evacuate in the last bush fire, their house was saved by a water bomber but others around them were not so lucky. Many returned to find their houses in ashes.
My parents are buried in a very beautiful cemetery in Perth which is also home to a large number of kangaroos. Visitors and the kangaroos seem to get along together very well but any fresh flowers left are eaten by the roos.

The areas you mention Louis if you put a name to them will tell you if I know. The hills of Perth cover a large area. Being a member of different organisations may even know your relations . Who knows have even bumped into 2 or 3 on this site who I know. If was in the past month or so I was in those same hills that were on fire. If you are referring to years ago, there have been many fires since, most of which are lit on purpose . Cheers JS..

Hi John the area of the hills they live is the Vines. The bush fire I referred to was only a few months ago.

#8 your relations obviously like golf then. ? The time was the same , but the area I was in was the way into Armadale trying to get through to the hospital , had to wait till the following day to get through.Those fires were suspected of being deliberately lit . As were started in areas miles apart. Cheers JS.

Little wonder with all those 'wonderful' people some in WA want to separate from the rest of the nation.
But take a good hard look at all of those, perfect examples of any one in parliament, perfect for the job.

But to have such a large majority is not good for democracy, but then again maybe WA is not so democratic.
