Dr. Seuss books.
Six children's books by Dr. Seuss have been taken off the market. The reason for this is that they show 'Racist content'. Hasbro*is rebranding its decades-old line of*Mr. Potato Head*toys to make them a single, gender-neutral doll with swappable limbs and accessories, in a move slated to take effect later this year. Hasbro says it’s making the change to give the toy a modern makeover, amid a broader push toward more inclusivity in the toy industry. Another one of his books shows an Oriental eating with 'sticks'. Apparently*this is hurtful to some. Didn't*we have a Dictator in Germany some years back who burned books that were not to his parties liking .I am sure that a lot of you were stressed at a young age after reading, or having*it read to you. Mr. Potato*head has been retired, as he was too 'gender specific'. Poor old potato*head RIP.
What next one wonders?

Re: Dr. Seuss books.
Don't think that my kids were traumatized by reading Dr. Seuss books.
A new generation I guess.
Worst stuff on tv.

All their going to remember is ... Good Night Girls and boys on their TV screens , and this site is not available to your eyes on their computers if they have parents worried about how they are going to turn out in later life. JS

Re: Dr. Seuss books.
Mr Potato head, we have a Mr Richard Cranium as premier and there are many who would like to see him gender neutral.
They will grow up PC in all aspects without any sense of humor.
No more laughter in the school yard, no more fun behind the bicycle shed, how boring their lives will be.
But once you ban something the Black Market takes over, we must see what is so bad!
There will be more circulating that way than in any libary.

We have minimum 5 adverts on TV showing people sitting on toilets with kecks round their ankles, then we have the adverts for toilet rolls showing asses of various shapes and colours, then we have the leak catching pants for women, the list is endless.
Those of the 50's/60's years of at being at sea will remember the much sought after and much shared 'Harold Robbins' novels obtained in the USA and Panama, tame by today's TV standards, even the illustrated Port Said novels would be considered tame these days,
The world seems to listen to minorities who seem to have an inflated sense of their own importance.

Steady on there John, there are other shades of 'Market' available- we don't want to appear too racially specific.

Let's not forget Mr Dickhead. Doesn't bear thinking which particular group that title may offend.

Re: Dr. Seuss books.
Good topic for WORLD Book Day 2021 - celebrating everything to do with literature and reading.
Sailors' Society
International maritime charity Sailors’ Society, which was running a school ferry boat service to the islets before lockdown, is now using the ferry boat to deliver books and schoolwork to the children two or three times a week until they can return to school.
“These books are the only way these children have been able to continue any kind of education since their schools were closed.” Find out how we're helping children in a Filipino seafaring community to keep learning through the pandemic:

Ivan, were those Port Said novels different from the Port Said Bibles? maybe no pictures in the novels?
