Re: It's an ill wind
China are busy buying up wine Chateaus & vineyards in and around Bordeaux and Saint Emilion. They are also trying to buy in the Pomerol area which is just below Saint Emilion with out success as far as I know. Pomerol Chateau's produce better wine than Saint Emilion at least that is my opinion as on similar priced bottles. I am buying New world wines now as they are better value for money. Well I was but have gone tea total for now.

Re: It's an ill wind
Remember Portugal and selecting wines, BSE stands for “Branco Seco Especial”
BSE was short then here for MAD COW DISEASE disease with a long name,
bovine spongiform encephalopathy. Sad affair at home but great wine in
Portugal.

Re: It's an ill wind
#4.. wine here starts from $4 Australian a bottle. I wouldn’t know the difference between a good or bad bottle. So stick with the cheapest. Port and sherry start at $8 a Demi- john and used to buy for functions and as soon as functions start again so will the wine flow. Plus of course all the beers and spirits as required. If direct from a vineyard and may even get cheaper. There are plenty of vineyards in WA no need to go to the eastern states, although sometimes do get cases sent from well known vineyards for the discerning, for raffle prizes. Some of these shoreside people are drunks. JS

Dan Murphy has wine from $2.95 a bottle.
But not the best I can assure you but plenty of good ones from about $5.
Happy daze John in Oz.

John that’s where I get mine from . The bins up to now have been 4 8 and 12 dollars .as a member will push what you say , and will make it public that we are being done , unless they drop their price further. In fact may elaborate further and say I want mine for a dollar or else , I”ll bankrupt them. Cheers JS... slange vas

An excellent Australian wine Yellow Tail. It is made in the Adelaide area by a family who came to Oz from Sicily.
