Of course the post should be headed whales but senior moment and auto spell meant I got it wrong.

As far as I am aware there are no Whales in Wales anyway.
Among the many whales spotted off the Welsh coast are blue whale, fin whale, humpback whale, killer whale, long-finned pilot whale, minke whale, and sei whale. Some of these species are rare visitors. ... A pod of killer whales appears regularly off the coast of North Wales.
Sad as it is, maybe we should call in the Jap whalers they could take the dead whales to Japan, it would save them from slaughtering Whales for years.

I think if some of the sand bar was dredged it may just improve the situation.
Many appeared to be in very shallow water at times.
Had it been deeper they may have got away.
Japanese Whaling so I am informed has been cancelled for now due to the Virus.
Apparently, Japan has escaped major protests from the international community over commercial whaling it resumed a year ago for the first time in 31 years, while Japanese vessels have enjoyed good catches.
But consumption of whale meat, no longer often found on household dining tables, has not recovered smoothly.

Thanks for the update Victoria, though sad doubt
much more now could be done or is to late.

Bit in the news the other day about another pod of about 25 who have become stranded on a sand bar.
Heard nothing since though.
Think rescuers have freed 25, hope Victoria can update.

Thanks Victoria as ever both interesting and appreciated.
