Victoria Cross
There was some great news here in Aus. The family and friends of Young Teddy Sheean, the 18 year old from Tasmania have been told he will get the Victoria Cross, presented for his heroic actions during the second world war.
Young Teddy was on the HAMS Armidale when she was attacked by Japanese fighter bombers, though badly wounded he helped to launch a lifeboat and helped to save many of his mates, he then went back aboard the sinking ship and strapped himself into the harness of the pompom gun and carried on shooting at the Jap planes, who were intent on shooting at the men in the water, downing at least one Jap plane.
He kept firing as the ship sunk with bullets coming up from under the water.
This young lad is someone who I will be proud to call a Hero, I look at the emblem in the RSL every time I go in there.
