    Default Freedoms

Terry, posted on another thread about the erosion of freedoms in Hong Kong, what about the errosions in the UK?
Freedom of speech is being slowly throttled by the woke generation.
JK Rowling questioned the rights of transgender person to call himself a woman, she said he couldn't be a true woman as she couldn't mens urate. Sacked by her publisher. Another authour supported her she was sacked.
Same with BLM, don't support them your are ostricised.
There are many more examples, of where the woke society control the agenda.

Yes also all those self righteous little twits castigated her, you know the ones, the ungrateful teenagers she made into millionaires by starring in Harry Potter films. One will always get castigated if your remarks 'do not fit in' the nation is turning spineless. Thank god our forbears were made of sterner stuff.

Freedom of speech today is a very debatable point. One has to be careful of what one says , so as not to upset the minority of people who think different. Truthfullness and honesty today leaves a lot to be desired, and this starts at the very top. JWS.

When one thinks back to the time when people became councillors and were proud to serve the community for nothing .Today you have the Mayor and numerous councillors. Of the City Of Perth being prosecuted for rorting the system . Where does it stop .one sees criminals getting away with Murder more or less. I have had two break ins in the past 3 years and never heard any results or arrests of culprit or culprits . If law and order is not maintained then our society is doomed to vigilante law. The law is weak as water but no one will say so , as afraid. To do so. This is just one of the failings of present day weaknesses in our community’s .i just call it lack of morality and moral fibre and backbone in today’s western society. Myself personally I prefer the world I grew up in , today’s world leaves a lot to be desired. JWS.

A certain religious group come to live in our country. Kill a lot of people in London.
kill 22 in Manchester, mutilate hundreds, with their suicide bombs. and all in the name of their god and say convert or die,
If you criticize them you are "15l4m4phobic" .and can be prosecuted.

can you imagine if it was like that in WW2 and you say you do not like the Gestapo.

And the answer was quite. Obvious Brian , but there was no one strong enough to make the decision , you dont accept them unless they conform to your own beliefs and ways of life. It is now a way of life and the same people are required for their votes to keep a political party in power, for what, more of the same ? This is not a political discussion just a talk on the weaknessses of people in general . Is very similar to how Hitler came to power. JS.

I suppose the word which by the way is in the oxford dictionary will always be a controversial one,
Even if the term may be beginning to lose its power, its meaning has not.

The fact that people are starting to “get woke” to the realities of social injustice and are starting conversations about the issues and how to change them, will always be the most important aspect. But the old saying {You cant please all the people all of the time } Comes to mind there are some very good police officers out there for instance but there are also some very bad ones, And clearly George Floyd came across 4 very bad ones, And accept it or not it has sent repercussion's the world over and strengthened the hand of The Black Lives Matter movement. Now flip the coin so to speak Here is another piece of the puzzle concerning the Reading attack carried out by Daniel Reynolds,. The penalty for homosexual acts in Islamic law is death. “While the police declared it as a terror incident, it was not clear if it was a homophobic attack or a hate crime, as many users on social media claimed it was.” It may have been both a terror attack and one targeting homosexuals. This horrendous attack took place on British soil we don't practice Islamic laws. If you want to live in Britain follow the laws of this land not jihad.

The Reading attack has been a case where media and authorities have bent over backwards to conceal important information. But when added up, the available evidence strong suggests that the government is downplaying yet another jihad attack. You could pick up on injustices to both black and white citizens the world over. The word woke appeared and came to the fore in 2008 Remember this from 2018.

    South Africa Land Seizure Explained
Activists say South African authorities are tacitly approving attacks on the country's white farmers, with one being murdered every five days, and the police turning a blind eye to the violence.

The white nationalist lobbying group AfriForum says that when lawmakers passed a motion last month which could see land being seized from farmers without compensation, it sent a message that landowners could be attacked with impunity.

It said there have been 109 recorded attacks so far in 2018 and 15 farm murders, meaning that this year, one white farmer has been killed every five days. Was that not racial or hate crime on white citizens. Yes life is a funny old game ali right. I could go on all night and still be politically correct. Two sides to every coin. Terry.

Freedom of speech nowadays appears to be only for the minority groups.

They can say what they like, BLM, is a good example and if you do not agree with them then you are some kind of odd person to be removed from society in some instances.
But we the majority have only our selves to blame for this.

The minority groups march and create havoc in many parts, they do not care for the rule of law, only their own rules.

But we sit back and complain, and that is all we do.
If we want to remove such persons, and the manner in which they act, from society we should be out there marching to retain the right to free speech and all the other freedoms we have.

The freedoms that many made the ultimate sacrifice for so that we could remain free and retain the right to free speech.

Keith, if you cannot comprehend the difference to the current situation regarding the virus and a general comment about freedom then you are totally lost.
