What the papers say.
This weeks International Express has a half page derogatory report on Winston Churchill with the Title “ Schools demonising our War Hero leader Churchill” , too long to print out , but one paragraph will show the likes of the contents. “ Lesson plans shared by thousands of teachers also suggest he made lame, drunken speeches and was less important to British history than Bob Geldoff” .
If that is what is being taught in British schools maybe they should stay closed indefinetley and those same ignorant teachers who must have got any qualifications they may have being taught by an unhealthy fifth column. A total disgrace to their own country if indeed they are British. JS.

Re: What the papers say.
It's all part of the EU propoganda, they are trying to airbrush it out of taught history. It wasn't a war but a minor skirmish.

#1, then it wouldn't be a surprise John to learn that in a survey carried out some time ago that circa 40% of British 16 -18 year old thought that Hitler was Prime Minister of UK during WWII and Churchill was the aggressor.
Also in the papers and media publishing facts and celebratory articles on VE day, firemen, policemen, nurses, evacuees, and of course the armed forces (all deserving of course), there is not a single mention of the merchant seafarers.
The Post Office has published a celebration stamp showing wartime individuals on VE day, you'll never guess what is most prominent feature………. The United States Flag !!!!
I'll never understand our country Greece has a preserved Liberty ship. the USA has 2 preserved Liberty ships, the Liberty ship was designed in Sunderland and the same hull was used on Liberties, Empire, Fort and Park vessels, but we don't have a preserved one.

Re: What the papers say.
Ivan when my daughter was at university she used to come home with her then boyfriend and both were to the extreme left of ghengis Khan .The only way thy could have got their notions from was the University lecturers as we were not political. Today however both her and her husband are more sensible in their beliefs , somewhere in between in entering the real world , they had time to reappraise their options. She is also a school teacher but am sure she would not teach such as demeaning the one figure who was adamant that Britain should stand firm.Afer all one of her degrees was history during the Hitler years.. cheers JS

Re: What the papers say.
A lot of the E.U. Want Churchills success's brushed aside because without him and our allies a lot of them would be under Nazi rule these days. Think how many Capital Cities around Europe where liberated by the Brits, Yanks, Canadians, to mention a few there forever in our debt. Although you wouldn't cocoa. Terry British and very proud of it.

Re: What the papers say.
London was also the centre of the greatest global trading network ever witnessed. We had the world’s largest navy, largest merchant navy – some 10,000 ships – and access to around 80% of the world’s merchant fleet. These were huge assets.
We also had the world’s first fully co-ordinated air defence system, the entire Home Fleet ready and waiting to intercept any invasion attempt, and also “Harry Tate’s Navy” – the Royal Navy Patrol Service – which were fishing boats and crews converted to minelayers and sweepers, armed and also acting as an anti-invasion watch.

Re: What the papers say.
A further paragraph to this Article..
In the run up to VE Day , campaigners say Britain’s wartime leader is being demonised by education zealots who are brainwashing pupils . They have been outraged by a lesson plan entitled Winston Churchill Hero or War Criminal ? On the website of the global education Tes.
JS
The last paragraph in this summary ...
The world will find it beyond belief , the term war criminal is being applied to him. It is outrageous and despicable.
The lesson plans are uploaded by individual teachers to the Tes website. The education company states in its terms and conditions that it is not responsible for its content.
If they are not responsible then who is ? ,for publishing , another gutless statement made by gutless people hiding behind the freedoms of expression that Churchill and the millions who gave their lives to let these gutless people be able to pull the dead to pieces and reburn to the infernos of hell.

Re: What the papers say.
Many historians over the decades would agree that Churchill’s words — contained in the 50 books, 10,000 articles, and dozens upon dozens of moving speeches he wrote and delivered — were more than just wholesome, they were transformational, if not the very salvation of the free world at its most dangerous time.

Re: What the papers say.
Scary lot teachers these days, remember one saying that the bombing of Dresden should never have taken place, I said what about the bombing of Coventry, London, Liverpool, and my own town of Swansea, she looked blank, then said I only saw Dresden on the TV. Today we have false news, then we had skewed news.
