    Default Greener petrol

I have posted this some time ago, but is now official. We are upping the content of bio fuel to our petrol and diesel, to lower our emissions, what a good country we are, bloody hippocrates. this bio fuel is of course palm oil, so we will continue to bang the drum on the countries that are deforesting to grow palm oil etc, at the same time upping our use of the stuff, so we produce a good carbon figure, kt

in Kalimantan, Borneo they have been doing that for years,
All the Rain Forests cut down to grow Palm oil trees,
These mad greens are destroying the planet.
You cannot grow a Rain Forest.

Keith have not been following posts on our green brothers who think green electric motor cars are the best things since spliced bread. This is not something new . We all associate outboard engines on boats as noisy and dirty. But between 1978 and 1982 whilst under charter to the mod had contact with at times members of our special forces in the form of the SBS, and even then they had for special ops fast boats driven silently on battery’s. What there more modern equivilants are don’t know , but the knowledge is not something new. However the battery driven engines were for silence only. Cheers JS

Unless your vehicle is designed to cope with Bio Fuel it will damage some of the working engine parts.

But hey, come here on March 17th, we sell Green Beer that day.

In 05/06 or thereabouts, I used to run my old Merc E300 T/D on 50% (while the ambient temp was 10+) rapeseed oil. BIG benefit was running cost but downside was my weight gain. The exhaust was just like being outside a chip shop and whetted the appetite.

They are cutting down the rain forests in order to grow plants to create bio-fuels.
Now according to scientists the rain forests are struggling to absorb the Co2.

Thats exactly my point Vic, so we can pat ourselves on our back for having low carbon emissions. Australia has a similar situation , low carbon country, but exports millions of tons of coal to China for them to foul the atmosphere, all dodgy dealings by politicians, pretending to do a good job on so called climate change, kt

Have never used the E10 fuel here and find that the downside for not using it is the hip pocket but not by much. The plus side is? Engine runs better, better millage (compared to similar car using E10) and lower maintenance costs which offsets the fuel costs. Purchased this car late last year as a second hand one ten years old and just looking after it to keep it going for two years I reckon I get my money's worth out of it. Only ever purchased one new car and never again. Treat the green petrol the same as low alcohol beer and that is to stay with the super ones not the diluted crap. As for electric cars? Might be okay in the UK or around cities but living in a country where driving can take the best part of the day to get there I do not have the time to wait for the electric car to get charged up. Can just imagine queuing up behind two or three other cars while the first one still has about an hour to go to get charged. Would mean a wait of around four to five hours would it not.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

Good point there Les, try going across the Nullabor in an electric one.

But in USA according to a good mate there electric vehicles are not doing so well, petrol is so cheap and cars are a lot cheaper than electric ones.

Be good in a London traffic jam, but that is about all.

Bought a Hyundai Sonata 15 years ago and have run it on E10 when ever possible. Get better mileage and acceleration than on standard petrol with no problems all this time.
Here in Ossie, E10 is a blend of petrol and ethanol. a bi product of sugar.
Used to load and survey Ethanol loading in Mackay where it mainly went to chemical plants in Japan or China, but had occassional cargoes of high quality product which went to Manila for mixing with there gin .
Also ran my lawnmower on time expired samples and boy, didn't she rev well.
