This report on the British TV Licences could well be a really good move for all concerned,i hope that it is scrapped like here we dont Pay for TV or Radio Licences ,and why should anyone aftr all one Pays enough to buy the damn things in the first place, and secondly we and everyone else pays enough Tax to all Governments . This is not a Political Thread so keep it that way please.
Its just News that i think is Important

I often wonder why the Australian gumbyment finances the ABC, a biased left wing outfit with 99% crap on it most of the time.

I don't know where you read that about TV licences here in the UK Vernon. Two days ago it was announced that the licence fee was to be increased in April to £157.

The only good thing you can say about the BBC tv, is that you can watch a program without the constant adverts , which drive you mad. The dramas and doccu,s are very good, wildlife etc, but also a large amount of garbage, including their news programs, repeats etc, kt

I totally agree Keith, but I think that not paying your license should be a matter for civil law not criminal law, if you don't pay you are a criminal, but for goods and services it is a matter for the civil courts not the criminal courts.
They also use private contractors to chase up non payers and they use bully tactics to frighten people into paying. I know from personal experience having omitted to pay (memory issues) a while back, two heavies turned up making threats about what would happen if I didn't let them in.
I ordered them off my property (using Anglo Saxon terminology which they readily understood without an interpreter) as they have no right of entry.
ended up paying after a couple of months as the threatening letters were starting to upset my wife.

I suspect the BBC is like our ABC, so far biased to the left they may well meet themselves on the way back.
Like to watch the mid day news, about the only bit I do, but that is now more like a magazine than a news bulletin.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
