Vernon I think that I speak for all when I say - may you and Irene, your family, friends and neighbours stay safe. Our thoughts are with you all with a prayer for your continued safety. Take great care my mate and don't forget to make sure you keep those golf clubs safe also.
Hi Vernon.
I see that the fire has jumped the Bell's Line of road, the last time that happened, [ we were living in the Mountains ] it burnt down the town of Winmallee, Yesterday a warning to people in Blackheath to be ready with car packed, don't leave it to late, even if you have to leave early, head for the Penrith Leagues Club. I doubt it wont be long before they cancel the Blue Mountains trains.
There again never fear Sco's Mos here .

If the weather patterns prevail you may get the cool change we had yesterday, weather men here say it is headed in that direction.
We reached 44 yesterday a tad short of the 47.9 on black Saturday some years ago when the town of Marysville was destroyed and 179 persons died.
We could smell the NSW smoke as well, not a good smell at that.
Total land mass burned in NSW is about the size of Wales.
We now have a couple of fires here in Victoria, so far no loss of life but two houses gone.
Could well be a long hot summer, but then again with weather patterns such as we are now experiencing anything is possible.
Stay safe Vernon, hopefully the danger will soon pass.
Friends and rellies in Oz, are going through and seeing much.
Thoughts are with all down under and hopes for better news ASAP.
Keith.
Well after two harrowing days of vigilant watching and evacuating ,we are at last over the worst here at least,we had very close calls with Fires in and around us two small Fires broke out in the Property behind me,but they were put out quick smart by my Neighbour! He is an SES worker ,he also got two Fire Hoses and connected them to the Hydrant so we had one Hose each
Used them to good use by Saturating the whole Area and the House plus put my Roof Sprinklers on.
As said some very close calls Fires just down the road about 150 Meter away and dont talk about smoke! Cripes i have never seen so much in a long long time,it was so think at times the Sky turned a dark Maroon very eerie! LOOKING FROM MY DECKING TO OUR BACK YARD CANNOT SEE TOO MUCH!! Eeeeek!!!

We were awoken Yesterday morning at 4 am to again evacuate but decided to stay and defend our House ,so that was in all a good decision .
So for now many Fires still Burning out of control in the Mountains and other areas but this little Area of ours is for now anyway a bit safer!
On the Weekend coming though more High Temps forecast and possible Winds as well,so again will be on Alert! Gosh what a end of Year!!
That all for now ,so have yourselves a great Xmas and stay safe at home and on the Roads or whatever you nay be planning
Cheers
Added Today What a difference a day makes! But still on Alert! Similar Pcs of those above but at least we can see now ! lol Cheers

Brilliant news Vernon so very glad to hear what you have said. Lets hope that this is it for you and your family, friends and neighbours and the fires have passed you by. Most of all lets hope that the new year firmly kicks the old year out and becomes a year of happiness for all.
Thanks Chris
Yes i hope so ,but there is still a long Summer ahaed with many many Hot days still t come, but with luck we may get some rain as well so that would help dampen the Fire Grounds!
Still a hell of a lot of Dry Ground though so all we can do now is pray that things may stay calm.
Cheers
To our friends and relations in Australia, were thinking of you and praying for you. We hope the fires will soon be out with no more loss of life.
Keith.
Awoke this morning to clear air, first time for a fortnight that we are not breathing smoke. Our PM came back from Hawaii where he went on Holidays while Aus was burning and people were holding their breath that the fires could be controlled. He came back after; even his right wing Newspapers started posting banner headlines from the old tourist add , "Where the Bloody Hell Are You" he reckoned he wasn't a firefighter, no he's the bloody Prime Minister. It was only after he saw the former PM in his firefighting gear and the leader of the opposition tending to a barbie that he realized he should have been on Deck.
Hope they have things under control up the Mountains, at least with this cooler weather it should help the Firies.
