Re: Just my little News snippet
Thanks Vicki
Just though by chance i may have known him,as i knew a lot of Folk that lived in PE and also in Knysna
But no !
I know the Knysna Area very well ,and worked in a place called Groot Brak Rivier for a while its a long story and i have told it before. Quite funny really at times but wont repeat.
All i can say it is a beautiful part of South Africa along the Garden Route.
Worked at the Fairy Knowles Hotel in the Wilderness.
Cheers

Re: Just my little News snippet
That was a pity that you could not have stayed , i think of all the places you would have loved Cape Town the best,it is the Jewell of South Africa.
But i must also say that PE then was a good place as well.
Likewise Durban .
Yes that is an uncommon Surname there as is funnily enough one of my old Friends who was also in the Merchant Navy lost contact with him and tried to find him,but closest i got was to get his Records, which gave his last address in Southampton but then of course he was long gone ! His Surname was Lavagna (Oscar)
Thanks for the reply
Cheers

Vernon, as you know Cape Town is one of the jewles of Africa.
The back drop of the mountain when sailing arriving makes an impression on all who see it.
One of the more spectacular ports on the globe.
Goin back to the original bit it could have been worse.
Clip clop, clip clop, bang, bang, clip clop, clip clop an Amish drive by shooting

Vernon, not sure how it is in NSW but here in Vic if they go to court their barrister will plead mental health issues and they get off with a slap on the wrist.
Just hope your lot are a bit tougher.

Re: Just my little News snippet
We are lucky here in Cooma, we have a large police force, owing to having a jail with some serious criminals in it. If anyone does anything wrong they have to travel a hundred Kilometers in all directions to the nearest big towns. The jail is an old sandstone fortress, they should build more of them. The police also have to cover the ski fields in winter with over two million visitors in four months.

Re: Just my little News snippet
Here in Victoria our Premier, desperate Dan, put a ban on many police actions.
Tazer, drawing weapons, chasing cars, using stingers and a few others.
Then we had a couple of very nasty incidents and the public went a bit troppo.
Royal Commission into and suddenly all the bans re lifted.
But the Polis got an 18% wage rise, only offer the Police 2%, more problems for our disfunctional state gov.
But now as we approach Christmas the premier is getting a bit worried so new pay talks taking place.

Re: Just my little News snippet
On the bush fire front, got a tad on the warm side today in Victoria.
46.7 degrees, a record for the state since records began in 1852.
Adelaide had a similar with record broken as hottest day in 132 years since they began keeping them.
Not a long time in the worlds history.

Yesterday many Residents here packed their Cars ready for evacuation me too,as a massive Fire started here just not more than 2 km away at Hat hill road! It was out of control ,many locals here left at about 6pm ,however i stayed to see what was to happen, Although lots of smoke etc, thankfully no wind so it was keeping it in one place sort of.
Had a on off Night watching and napping in between, till this Morning, once daybreak came one could see the amount of smoke ,it was so thick but at least we wee OK, and did not move from the House
Been like this all day now ,with yet another large out of control Fire now 7 km away at Mt Victoria,so another watch full Night ahead!
Thats all Folks !

Re: Just my little News snippet
Just a quick update as of now 7.10am Saturday here
Will not be on for too long Today as its the dreaded day that all of NSW and other states have not been looking forward to.
Here expected Temps as said up to 47 in Penrith and surrounds and 39 here at Blackheath, strong winds and low Humidity making it potentially a very bad Fire day!
The State Emergency Services have issued a Catastrophic day so all will be on very High Alert!
Sp thats all for now will hopefully be able to get back to your Tomorrow if all is still here!??
Cheers and all take care!
