I am sorry that I have caused some offence on on this page. It was certainly not my intention to insult any seafarer, and I apologise unreservedly to those affected. I was trying to point out to non seafarers, who are signed on to this website that there is a code of conduct amongst seafarers, to render assistance to those in peril on the sea. Seafarers, obviously would be aware of it. It was badly worded.

Bob thank you for your post. I am sure that no offence was meant nor inferred.

The problem which caused the dissension I believe, and the dismay with the RNLI, was not over the RNLI Lifeboats and seafarers rescuing foreign sailors - perish that thought - but over the monies being spent on the RNLI's land based activities in foreign countries. Monies being spent when staff and volunteers here in the UK are being made redundant and the RNLI are cutting staff and costs. It was a reaction to that and counter arguments as to the expectations of donors as to what they expected their money to be spent on, which caused the waves.

Thank you again for your post - hopefully the storm has now passed and calm waters once again favour the site and its members.
