RNLI in trouble?
The RNLI has come in for some critism recently over the amount of its money it spends on projects overseas.
I let you all make up your own minds on the values of its overseas projects and even it should be funding projects overseas.

Re: RNLI in trouble?
Sorry I cannot support their arguments on overseas aid, if they received financial aid from a donor who wanted them to concentrate on ****** (mus lim) women and burkinis, which incidentally are not a requirement of their religion, but are in fact a restrictive garment imposed by male zealots of said religion, why didn't that donor give his money to one of the Aid Societies with direct instructions. How much money of the general funds of RNLI was used in flying out RNLI personnel to these locations, plus hotels and other expenses. How many more office staff have been employed to monitor all these new activities, lets not forget their salaries, pension and benefits provisions, office space, computer equipment, perhaps some of this could have gone into saving some of the lifeboat stations closed down here in the south west.
Having seen their Poole HQ, perhaps some thought could be given to supplying cheaper marques of cars that adorn the car park.
Seems they have lost the prime focus of the RNLI being established, no matter how they dress it up in Press Releases

Re: RNLI in trouble?
Whilst it is at times good to assist those overseas in a less favorable situation then the UK, in my opinion the UK should come first.
After all it is the National Lifeboat Service that began to assist ships in trouble off the English coast.
Without it their service many seamen may not have been so lucky as to survive a ship wreck

It’s literally one of RNLI’s mission statements.

You may have read some misleading reports in the Mail and Times over the weekend about our international work.
We are proud of these drowning prevention initiatives, which save mostly children’s lives, and account for less than 2% of our expenditure. As a world-class lifesaving organisation with almost 200 years’ experience, we share knowledge and expertise with partners abroad to help tackle the global drowning problem, which claims 320,000 lives a year.
We have made no secret of this work, which is in our annual report, on our website, in the media and featured here on this channel.
Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support and made donations over the past 24 hours – we simply couldn’t save lives without our amazing supporters.

Re: RNLI in trouble?
Mark Dowlie, chairman of RNLI, stated the organization must live within it's means.
135 jobs lost, 95 made redundant, other vacant posts will not be filled, whilst 2% of it's budget is spent overseas.

Re: RNLI in trouble?
Do these countries not get enough of our tax payers money in Overseas Aid to fund themselves instead of their Dictators hiding it in private bank accounts in Zurich Switzerland.?

Re: RNLI in trouble?
The RNLI states all in it's mission statement and has never hidden the fact it helps all.
Seems someone that dislikes the organisation is now just stirring all up.
If the adverse publicity drove away donators and donations this could cost lives.
They simply couldn’t save lives without all generous supporters.

Re: RNLI in trouble?
The RNLI certainly won't be getting any more of my hard earned money (nor from my family). These overpaid senior managers who are wasting the donations from, frequently, poorly paid people and pensioners MUST be kicked out and replaced with conscientious, careful spenders, who spend donations only on rescuing people from the sea on a national basis (after all, NATIONAL is in the title - not international). It must also be remembered that most of the people who put their lives at risk in conducting rescues are UNPAID VOLUNTEERS. ALL senior managers / executives of the RNLI should first have spent at least 2 years as a volunteer member of a lifeboat crew BEFORE being appointed to a senior position. They would then know what goes on at 'the sharp end' of the RNLI.
