Alan Turing, possibly the greatest scientist of the 20th century
It has just been announced that Alan Turing will be the face on the new £50 note.
We all know of his code breaking work at Bletchley Park in WW2 but many may not be aware that his mathematical genius resulted in the basis for modern computer coding and even A.I. as well as applying mathematics to plant biology to understand photosynthesis in plant growth.
A true giant of 20th century science.

Re: Alan Turing, possibly the greatest scientist of the 20th century
A few years ago I took my grandson around Bletchley Park there is a statue down in one of the basement areas of Turin when you consider the age then he died out and what he had achieved along the way it makes you wonder what he would have discovered had he lived and it must have made a complete mockery of the laws against homosexuality there was still with us 30 years after his death
