Re: Drones
I do hope with all the talk, we do not just give them ideas !
ISIS fanatics have used a poster featuring a drone over New York to threaten the West with attacks in the wake of the chaos at Gatwick airport. The propaganda picture shows a drone hovering over the US city carrying a parcel saying: 'private mailbox'

I do hope that it is just not the time of year, shooting Santa would not go down well.

Re: Drones
I rather think the bofors guns we trained with started with 300 knots gunsights down to 50 knots. Hardly the sights for 700 knot jets. However have little doubt a service trained sharpshooter. Could bring down a drone with a single shot marksmans rifle at a mere 40 knots, from at least a half a mile. Would in some cases be like falling off a log. JS

Apparently,
Two suspects were held on Friday night after another day of chaos at Gatwick Airport just before Christmas.

200 ft is right on the edge of a shotgun's range , effectively 100ft , in the UK the drones should be limited to 500 feet , way above shotgun capabilities , a .22 rimfire will reach the 500 feet

Re: Drones
I think its going to be a hard one to crack, not just for airports, but for all sort of situations. They could be flown over power stations, and if they can carry drugs into prisons, drop a charge into power stations. the possibilities are endless. Apparently they be programmed to fly out to a destination preset, and then fly back to base. Interesting opening for some hi etc guy to come up with a solution, because i think that is the only real solution , kt
