My missus worked there straight from school up until she was 25 yrs old. The old football pools only went down hill when the national lottery was launched.

These days John seems that there are more accidents in the Gold and other Mines in South Africa. ?? Don't know why.there are exceptions that of this one that the collapse of Rock from above after an Earthquake.
I had many such close counts ,but I was very fortunate to not have had any major ones, its a scary feeling when the Rock above you moves and you just sit still, nothing more you can do in that low working conditions at only some 3 to 4 feet high!

Never really understood how the football pools worked but do remember being allowed to 'pick' something for Dad and the lady who you to come to the door to collect his form and money.
Mum has had a couple of small big wins on the lottery, don't remember Dad winning anything - probably I picked the wrong teams.

Re: Littlewoods Building up on Flames Liverpool
Had an uncle who spent a day each week working out how many teams would draw so he could win the 75,000.
Did it for years and never won a cracker.

Re: Littlewoods Building up on Flames Liverpool
!978, i had 7 draws on my coupon, for those that used to do the pools, you need 8, and it depended how many draws there were that week. I won £112, so was chuffed, except the next week the freezer in the kitchen packed up, so money in and money out. Who remembers a women called Viv , forget her surname, and when she won she said she was going to spend spend spend. She won £75000, which was a lot of money in the 60s i think. She blew the lot in a couple of years, and finished up in debt, divorced , etc, such is life, kt
