What a load of Scallops !

Fleetwood is now a ghost town, once one of the Biggest fishing ports in Britain, europe closed it down
All the Trawlers had to be scrapped, not sold.
But outside Fleetwood, in Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea are many French, Belgian and Spanish trawlers, taking what used to be British waters and fish,
It is taken to france and they sell it back to us, I see the lorries from Cherbourg arriving every week delivering fish from our waters.
The situation is totally Stupid.

I was told that oysters were an aphrodisiac.

Ordered a dozen at dinner in a French Auberge
at dinner before a night on the town.

Had to complain at breakfast, as only

Here in Oz no worries about fish and chips.
Unless you ask for a particular fish all you will get is Flake, better known as Gummy Shark

In Sainsburys supermarket, ROSS Frozen fish, Cod etc, imported from CHINA.

That's nothing, prawn are caught in the Atlantic flown to China, processed, flown back to the UK, packaged and sold.

I could never understand why there was so much trade in food between countries. Raw products yes, but processed food no. I was brought up in an Anglo/Scottish household and any cross border tiffs, always came across that Scotland was self supporting in food stocks. I would imagine that England wasn’t very far behind. Why can’t our own outlets supply the country ? Is it the fact that the population is now too large or is it just for profits.?

Accountants again I am afraid, not so long since Youngs closed a factory in Dumfries that processed locally caught prawns, flew them to Thailand for processing instead, and then flew em back.

I could not believe what happened today,
I was walking along the beach in Fleetwood and saw a man with fishing rod stood at the waters edge.
I asked him if he had caught any fish,

It turned out that he was a froggy Frenchman on hollday here,
I said Do not let any Fleetwood ex Trawler man see you or you will be joining the fish.

I
