As I have said before, we get a free magazine every month called the Snow post, showing the depth of snow in the Alps here for the last 50 odd years, it's up and down like the proverbial pair of draws, but overall no differences.

When I lived in England Des I was always bemused about every bad winter which was usually a repetition of a previous one and found the country unprepared for the resultant lack of foresight. No sand stockpiled for the roads , people dressed inadequately for low temperatures . Im sure many people could add to the list of not done properly. Go to any Scandanavian country or Canada and no bother , they have the intelligence to live according to what they expect to happen and not the song and dance one saw in the UK. The first topic of conversation in an English pub was always the weather and yet no one seemed to have the will to do anything about it. I shudder to think of the visages they see due to a misconceived climate change materalize , they are dead ducks before they start .

You are both correct.
Just back from the Baltic region, they do not carry on like so many about climate or global warming.
Thye prepare each year for the coming winter months, but also are smart enough to use the long summer nights to do essential work such as road repairs.
They will tell you how the glaciers melt between May and September then begin to re- form from October.

Sweden has now dumped the concept of renewable energy coming to understand it will not supply all the power they requires, modular nuclear will replace it.

Look back to UK in the late 60's, we were warned that an ice age was coming, still waiting.

Big drought in some parts of central EU, but back in the 1600's Sammy Peyps spoke of a ten year drought there with lakes and rivers drying up.
But why would the media, the main source of all info regarding this subject, say all is well, good news never sells.

The old sailors of many centuries past knew just as much about climate and weather patterns as those so called experts today.
But over time weather patterns change, a natural part of nature.

Methane is now being touted as a new form of energy supply so maybe we should keep all those cows.

John seriously were do you did you get the idea that Sweden has now dumped the concept of renewable energy coming to understand it will not supply all the power they requires, modular nuclear will replace it. They are building Modular powerplants to on a decommissioned Nuke plant( Ringhals)
Even here in the UK plans are advanced to do exactly the same thing.

Engineering firm Rolls-Royce has shortlisted six sites for a major new factory building nuclear reactors. The government wants to build 16 Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in the next 25 years to secure the UK's energy supply and hit its net-zero target by 2050. They would be built on a production line and assembled at existing sites, but like all things here they may have put that on hold.

Sweden are one of the worlds leaders on eco systems for power generation.

Methane is now being touted as a new form of energy supply so maybe we should keep all those cows. LNG & LPG has been used in the for decades. The UK government have banned the use of Gas for heating and cooking for new build properties from 2025. How they are going to acheive that is another pipe dream.

I wonder if net zero means by 2050 there will be no power of any kind. And their talking out here of shooting the wild horses in the Kosciusko National Park, the country will need them to pull the ploughs.

James, Sweden will continue with current renewables but will not build any more.
According to a report from them it does not provide the power they need and with long winters solar is of little use they find.

John even the UK state that all renewables will never be enough to supply all the power needs. Can you post an article were Sweden has actually said they are not going to build anymore renewables.Can you post a link were you read that to back up your post.

It was also reported on our ABC evening news at the time.
