    Default Merchant, ships, sixties,

    I am looking for ship specifications on MV Rangitata, SS Paparoa. Cadet ship Otaio, 1960's NZSCo.
    Holder Brothers Co, Rippingham Grange.1960's.
    Castle Line, Capetown Castle, Rowallan Castle,
    Port Line, Port Hobart,
    Esso Tankers, Essex and Westminster. If anyone can point me on the right course I would be thankful.

    Try typing in new zealand shipping co. I was on the Otaio cadet ship and the Rangtiki & Rangitane but unfortuneately I cant give you much information, though you may get it from their site, good luck.

    Hi John,
    Old MN hand retired last May,just browsing through. You have any relatives in Barry,my mothers maiden name was Hoare (Elizabeth) Must have met my father in Barry before the war married and moved up to Methil (Fife) married name Egan. Still family in Barry that we visit every other year,also across in Somerset.

    Rowallan Castle. 7798grt Built Harland & Wolff Belfast 1939
    On Feb14 1942 whilst in convoy Alexandria-Malta badly damaged by aircraft and had to be sunk by escorts.

    Rowallan Castle (2) 7943grt Harland & Wolff Belfast 1943.
    Broken up,scrapped in Kaohsiung 1971

    Capetown Castle. 27002 grt Harland & Wolff Belfast 1938
    Passenger ship carrying 290 first class, 500 cabin class passengers on S>Africa mail run
    Broken up Spezia 1967

    I sailed on Llangibby Castle and Braemar Castle in the 1950s,and also Esso Syracuse amohgst others.
