Re: Lawrence of Arabia - Film props and Vehicles
On the journey to meet Prince Feisal, Lawrence is offered food by his guide and accepts using his left hand. This would have been considered an insult as Arabs always eat using the right hand. The historical Lawrence would have known better. He had spent many years in the Middle East before the war.
Re: Lawrence of Arabia - Film props and Vehicles
He was killed riding a Brough Superior motor cycle, this was one of the top motor cycles at the time. I believe there was some doubt that it was an
accident.
Re: Lawrence of Arabia - Film props and Vehicles
His post-mortem examination established that Lawrence had suffered "severe lacerations and damage to the brain" when his unprotected head struck the ground. Had he survived, brain damage would probably have left him blind and unable to speak.
"In Lawrence we have lost one of the greatest beings of our time," said his friend Winston Churchill. "I had hoped to see him quit his retirement and take a commanding part in facing the dangers which now threaten the country."
It was not to be. At the age of 46, Lawrence of Arabia was dead.

The biggest was along the canal where a car can be seen in the distance, a type of car not in existence at the time of Lawrence.

More mistakes than you could poke a stick at.

Hi Cappy,
Your comment about what has been carried by the MN in the past prompted me to read through some of the cargoes I was associated with during my time at sea (I kept quite extensive notes in those days), and I came across a part cargo we loaded in Mombassa in May 1959 for transport to Singapore and eventually Japan. The entry reads:- Loaded Scrap Iron, Soda, Jute, Cotton, and ...... get this .....Ivory and Hippo Hides!! Not really the good old days were they.
