Re: London
Keith. #13 Re "Overners"
Though I'm a Yank, I think I might qualify as an Overner:
My second maternal great grandfather, Sydney George Moses b.1868, Godshill, I.O.W. left the I.O.W. for the bright lights of London. going back from him I have dates, places and records tracing back to my 12th great grandfather John Moses 1560-1680 b. Brading, I.O.W. married Elizabeth Spanner b, Wroxhall, I.O.W. I can go two great grandfathers back from her to my 14th great grandfather John Spanner. b. 1495, Chale, I.O.W.
Through another branch of my family tree, I can go even further. But I'm afraid to post that as I don't think anyone would believe it, however I have dates places the whole nine yards. I have seven three-inch binders full of support documentation. Plus, my whole family tree is posted on site called Ancestry, Genealogy is my hobby. So fingers crossed I make it as an honorary Overner
Whereas, all my grandfathers are Moses (Changed to Moss in 1911) all my 12 great grandmothers have different family names. So I have 12 other names associated with the Island. If you would be interested in the names and towns contact me privately. Don't want to bore the the rest of the crew,
Cheers, Rodney
