My kingdom for a beer
There I was in Southampton town
looking around and up and down.
Not a pub the high street town
some one said they were all pulled down
Need a beer I have a thirst,
No pub here this town is cursed.
I asked a man about a pub
all he said sounded like rub a bub, dub
I though his voice was kind of whacky
but then again I do not speak Paki
The Horse and Groom where we had a lark
is now just a bloody big car park
No where in town to get a beer
I think this town is very queer.
I walked the streets to get a drink
this town is mad I begin to think
I turn the corner and there by me
I find myself outside the JB
Inside on for a drink I have a beer
maybe this town is not so queer
But the pubs are now so few to find
Easy here to lose your mind.
Yates wine bar is still in the town
only one they did not knock down
So next time you feel like a wee
just drop into the good old JB
