Juniper Berry Pub
Well really sad new Today , as the old great Pub of many a Seaman is to close its doors Today (Sunday 10th November)
I am sure many on here will recall that famous old Watering hole , where many of us met, Drank, and just had some great times in the distant past!
For me it surely holds many good memories and a few Stories too, and of course a few Years back when i went on Holiday and met up with a few of the good oldies we had on site some gone to rest Bless their Souls.
We had two Flags set up there, one from Mike , and the other from me, and they looked great hanging there for all to View!
So the sad end of a great Era and a great Pub. it will i know me sadly missed by many!
Farwell good old Juniper Berry! Thanks for the Memories!

Re: Juniper Berry Pub
Seems it had deteriorated somewhat since our days in the 60s,

Re: Juniper Berry Pub
Hi Doc, Yes how I recall the "interesting" nights there when a young seafarer and I can tell you that my "late" wife and I stayed there overnight when joining a cruise ship in 2019 and boy had it changed. No longer did you enter by the front door but at the side and the BIG BROWN BEAR inside the front door had gone, it had carpets on the deck and en-suite accommodation above. I mentioned to the then landlord about the bear and he said that was before he was born but many old seamen had mentioned about it and the landlord and his wife were emigrating to Australia in early 2020. The accommodation was clean and obviously very oldand it brought back memories. I have a few photos of this visit somewhere and may send them through if of interest. Happy days.
Phil Hughes.

In Pic Number three you can see he Bar Area from one side , if you look at the following Pic you can see Alf and George on the other end of that same Bar with one of the Flags (My One ) on the Wall behind them.

Re: Juniper Berry Pub
This is the Flag i made ( Second Pic Down) on the Computer, and took with me to the UK. Gave it to the Owner. Another from mike as well that was sent to him. Later i made another Flag very much the same but with a lot more names on it which in fact filled the entire Flag Area up. ( See Second Flag which in fact is shown first! ) So that too took a while Typing all the details into a Spreadsheet, then carefully Section by Section, copying and Pasting on to the Flag! Cheers
Above is the Second Flag i made still in my possession
Below is the Flag i gave to the Juniper Berry Owner.

Re: Juniper Berry Pub
And this was Mike Hall,s Flag that was put up on the Ceiling in the Bar! Now sadly all gone too!
What a shame both me and Mike put a lot into the Flags, Mike however putting a lot more into his, as he had to actually do it manually himself with all those names etc! A great effort!
Cheers
