    John #9, I agree there will always be some who will do anything for a quid, but what you speak of was a different generation.
    The ones I speak of would not be the best of workers and maybe employers are better off without them.
    There will always be a group who will be of no use to any employer.

    It was considered to be part of our wages back then, and the guys in Las Palmas were prepared to pay.

    We are all guilty of some way or other trying to make an extra few quid. Used to run up to Arhus in Denmark. There we could actually sell the fuel slops gained from desludging the fuel settling & fuel service tanks. Never ever saw any water in those fuel tanks Company never seemed to object as far as they were concerned it was a free slops barge.
