My oldest was the BEECHFIELD of Savages, [wonderful name for a ship owner,]
She was built 1895. I was a coal burning Fireman on her, Page 1 in Seafaring Stories thread in Swinging the Lamp Forum.

Right lads having a boring afternoon so have collated a few facts on who was on the oldest, some considered old but to some of us would be considered new, seems quite a few of us have sailed with rod and chain steering, but everything is relative in my own case the ship was 37 years old when I joined her, but Corrietes can beat that as his ship was 57 years old when he joined her, I apologise in advance for any mistakes that may occur or if I have missed anyone who posted
