Like wise the famous Cape Rollers John! Had some scary moments when hitting those on Arrivals and Departures!
Different kind of movement of the Ship though and at times one though that you would not righten on a heavy Roll, dont know what degree it was measured in but hell some of the time it was hair raising!!

    Hi Vernon.
No Cape rollers when the I told the girl I met on the Southern Cross to be on deck as she approached Cape Town to dock, we both stood there in awe at the site of the sun practically sitting on the top of Table Mountain, we were only talking about it last night.

Des, does your wife know you were with her last night??

As to the rollers, the water could look quite calm, then all hell let loose!!

Well Des from what you say it must have been good, still with her, well done.

But the sight of Table mountain is something special.

Was sailing through the Bay of Biscay on a Mc Andrews ship on a flat calm day. I was inspecting the bulk wine tanks when the ship went hard over to starboard .I grabbed the railing for support and looked out and there a couple of yards from the side of the ship i saw a wartime mine float past .The third mate spotted it and took evasive action just in time.
