#10, No, but the same ship that arrived at the Flannan Isles Lighthouse in 1900 when all three keepers went missing.

I should have gotten a second one.
But it was addressed to Ron B Manderson
    Chief elect.
    British merchant navy.

    Never did receive it .
    I wonder why.

I received one in Oz. on my first trip, Port Jackson, from my first love, Eileen xxxxwood. I was devastated. No sleep that night, worked in a daze the next day. Then I thought to myself....Self, she doesn't know that I've received this. So I posted it on my door and started composing a dear John to her. The rest of the gang in the catering department caught word of what I was doing and decided to help...It was a scorcher, brilliant.

A couple of years later, I was on leave, and went to a dance at the Kursall Ballroom in Southend on Sea. It was a ladies request, where females got to ask the males to dance. Eileen's sister came up to me and asked me to dance. Eileen 'cut-in', the sister and her are almost into a cat fight on the dance floor.

We danced, Eileen was still pished at the dear John she received. She asked me if I received her letter. I told her I had received one, but there was no point in opening it, so I tore it up and flushed it. She was doubly pished now and stormed off the dance floor. I wasted no time in asking the sister to dance and could I walk her home....She was nothing special, but I took her to the movies the next night, just to get the last crack at Eileen.

Funny, I don't think we ever forget our first love. (Forgot the name of the sister though).

We had a chippy who got a Dear John when we docked at Kingston Jamaica, next night we were in the Dominican Republic, though not a drinking man chippy decided to come ashore with the deck crowd, what a state he got in after a few drinks,he passed out we looked after him and eventually got chippy safely back on board.
For about 4 days chippy walked around in a trance.
I received a Dear John after being away 3 months,it hurt but she did me a favour as she was not a right one
to marry a seaman, have been married to my wife 59 years so I did some thing right.
Getting back to chippy in a good breeze chippy was always sea sick and he always turned green.

Joined a ship in Taiwan where an Assistant Steward had received a Dear John from his boyfriend, he jumped ship, as I knew the ship had just come from South Africa I asked where he had jumped ship, certainly did not expect the answer I got.
He had jumped over the wall in the middle of the Indian Ocean
