    Default Garfish

Years ago while driftnet fishing a Garfish would get caught in the drift net and it would finish up in the frying pan.
After eating the fish twas said that if you baked the bone in the oven then ground it into a powder it worked as
    a aphrodisiac.

    Default flying fish

As a boy fishing on Southend Pier, we fished for Garfish, used a float with a 3 or 4 foot trace one hook, when caught they were very lively, leaping out of the water, and hard fighters, never eaten one,

    Default Not a flying fish

This is one I really did catch earlier, around 1959, it was in Georgetown British Guiana before it became Guyana. The bait was the remains of a leg of lamb. We sold it to the locals.
