Just found this thread which to me and seems like a very good idea but is not being used much.
So, as there are so many of us who survived the 60’s and 70’s almost intact but thought they were the best of times i submit my list of memorable music.
These are songs that still sound as good today as when released.
    In no particular order -

Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks. The intro still excites me.
Won’t get fooled again - The Who
Something - George’s beautiful contribution to Abbey Road and maybe his most memorable song.
Oh Well - Fleetwood Mac. When they made real music.
Strawberry Fields Forever - John’s classic track about his childhood. Penny lane is nearly as good.
Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding. A real classic.
Son of a preacher man - Dusty Springfield
You can’t always get what you want - The rolling Stones
    Lay,Lady lay - Bob Dylan
When i was young - Eric Burdon / Animals
There are many, many others but thought i’d stop at 10.

    So, comments, opinions etc.

We could also try listing our Top Ten or 25 albums of all time and see how much is agreed or disputed [in friendly manner].
Just an idea to keep this thread going.

No surprise at all John. I love any sort of music including classical with the exception of Rap,Hip-hop and thrash metal.
Mostly though 'It's all music to my ears."

Trevor. All form of music appeal to me. Traditional jazz my favorite but if ask for one piece more than the rest it would be Procal Harum A Whiter Shade of Pale.

    So many to chose from.

    A very old fave:

    Duncan Browne - Journey

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS1bvFmwtsA

    DUNCAN BROWNE
    Journey Lyrics

Cut all the corners, step on the old routine
Oh what a joke these twenty-four years have been
Honey, in my mind I can see your star
I know who you are I've been learning
All right, so now we know which way the wind's gonna blow
Let's get up and go, no returning

    (Solo)

Pack up your sorrow, put away your evening star
But don't change your clothes, I like you just the way you are
I know you've been sleeping under a big black cloud
And you never been allowed to be honest
Well I'm no saint but I'll carry you home
There's a place of your own if you want it

    Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh

Soon we'll be sailors, sailing on the salty sea
Where the waves of the world would be the one and only company
Come up and see the world it's like a ship going down
    It's running a-ground, it's all over
But those flying fishes are gonna jump up and smile
Every league, every mile, to terra nova

I like most styles, from the Beatles to Bach.
Interesting if you look into two songs.

    Whiter Shade of Pale,
The title came when one of the writers saw a lady at a party not looking well and said, 'You look a whiter shade of pale'

The song is about sexual encounters.

Hotel California by the Eagles, about the excesses of the 70's in California.

But please no offers from members to sing on site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    The Beatles
    The Shadows
    All the 60s British bands.

Not a Country Western fan, except for Marty Robins, might be of interest to some that the Spanish guitar background on "El Paso"
was played by a country bluegrass guitar picker named Grady Martin, and considered the best guitar work in country music history.
