    Hi Doc',

The first record I ever bought (in Melbourne in 1958) was Dean Martin's 'Volare' 45rpm single. Stop laughing, it was very popular at the time. Joke was I never had a record player of my own, but it served me well as a passport to the 'parties' in other cabins. I still have the record, but if I took it to a party nowadays I'd get thrown out.

What more can you say about Eddie Cochran? Before his premature death, many thought he may become a serious contender for Presley's crown.

Was also a fan of Charlie Gracie in those days. Following his 'original' release of 'Butterfly', in England, he had other hits with 'Fabulous' and 'Wandering Eyes' which reached No.16 in the U.S. and No.6 in Britain (see below).

    Hi Braid,

Although we're only talking music, it takes a brave man to come out of the closet and broadcast such information on this forum (only joking)...to each his own, mate and vive la difference !!! It makes Marian, Doc' and I seem decidedly plebeian.....Now where did I put my album of 'Tiny Tim's Greatest Hits' ?...can't find it anywhere....... you don't suppose it could have been stolen?

    Hi Braid,

Having just listened to the track kindly uploaded by, Marian, I suddenly realised that I was familiar with that particular Concerto. Although I don't have a regular appreciation of classical music, some I really do enjoy. May I commend your taste as a young man. I suspect there was something missing in my own musical education as a child, although as a young teenager I was able to play 'Beware My Foolish Heart' on an old pedal organ, couldn't play anything else mind.......used to drive everyone crazy. Unsurprisingly, my family did not encourage me to pursue a musical career and by their omission probably saved the world a great deal of anguish I shouldn't wonder..

    My first record
    Glad all Over...Dave Clark Five
At grammar school they attempted to teach us all to play the violin and despite all their efforts what came out of my attempts sounded more akin to a stuck pig squealing.
In my mind I have the voice of an angel but what comes out is as flat as a pancake.
Regarding classical music anything by the blind Spanish tenor or the the three tenors of World cup fame, certainly stirs the soul but don't ask me to name them or the songs, me being a bit of a pleb that way.
