Those songs inspired many of the 70's rock stars.
They were played at the local HOP I used to attend on a Friday night, chasing my love of a certain mini skirted school girl from my class.
They always played the likes of the Platters etc. as closing numbers at 2200 {late nights for us country lads, followed by a 5 mile walk home....alone agin as she lived 5 miles in the opposite direction}.
Beach Boys and Rolling Stones also featured heavily on those Friday nights.

p.s. Sad to hear of the death of B.B. King, greatest ever blues guitarist.
