You remind me of the sex maniac monkey....
All ships I sailed on were weather reporting ships. Spent 2 years on phosphate run from Oz to Christmas, Ocean & Nauru. One trip to Ocean Island had a cyclone to the Eastof us. Łed mate sent in 0800 report and as 2nd Mate had gone on the bridge to see if any chance of morning sights when Sparks brought in a msg from Essendon asking us to check our wind and sea states etc. The old man, one John Graham de Coverley Veale went almost demented that they would query our reports. We sent in another report and 4 hours later they were reporting another cyclone to the west of us. Not many reports in the early 60's from Pacific area.
I have been right through this post and failed to see what the post says we would be outraged about. Can anyone point out where the answer is. It is after all over 5 years now. JS
PS did anyone ever win the barograph. JS
I always have serious doubts about some of the info that comes from such sources.
Equipment used back in the 1800's was no where as near the accuracy of modern day impliments.
But with all such info as is always the case there will be those who will manipulate it to serve their ends.
Found the answer for the outrage bit is in post 19 by Laurie. Mystery solved. JS
