    Smile VLCC's

According to Trade Winds up to a quarter of the World's VLCC's could be anchored offshore as large floating fuel depots.
World demand for crude oil dropping like a stone and the price could drop to as low as $10 a barrel.
Good news for motorists if we could get out

NOT GOOD NEWS FOR THE SHAREHOLDERS. Vic.

When we worked for ESSO we could buy EXXON Shares 2 for 1, then re-invest the dividends,
Fortunately I sold most of mine 18 months ago for US $ 89 each, I kept a few for emergencies. Now down to $35
a $54 loss on each share.
I know a lot of crew members were made Millionaires , real genuine Millionaires. by those shares. Not many shipping Companies did that for their Seamen.

Oil at a 20 year low in some parts but petrol prices all over the place.
Anywhere from $1.39 to $0.89 per liter

But Diesel which normally does not change has dropped from about $1.49 to as low as $1.19
Anywhere from $1.39 to $0.89 per liter

Wonder how long it will last.

The 2 clean products carriers I did time on whilst working for J.I.Jacobs was supposedly my grooming for service on a VLCC they had built in the early 70s . I was never a tankerman so was a swift learning curve. However this big heap of white elephant lay up a Norwegian fiord for its whole. Life whilst owned by JIJ. The other ships in the fleet being sold to keep the company afloat till better times. Better times never came.. JS

Yes, it reminds me of the early seventies Oil Crisis when we were all slow steaming. It was sheer purgatory. Going nowhere very very slowly. I recall sending one message to Head Office which went ETA Falmouth ( a nominal destination only) 6kts June, 5 knots July 4 knots August - and that was on departure from Nigeria. By return we received - Increase to 10 knots! The view from the Bridge looking down was like a "Still Life". The weed on the hull grew at a ridiculous speed. We even had a rendezvous in the Atlantic with another company ship and used the lifeboat to collect boiler chemicals that we were running very low on, plus, of course, the movies and even more importantly 240 cases of beer. The return trip was very hairy, as the motor broke down and the Old Man said he'd bring the ship alongside the lifeboat. We soon had that engine restarted!

A Greek Company has ordered four 320,000 dwt tankers just to float around holding oil until the price comes up.

Vernon, gold is well up in price just now so if you sell a few shares you can shout the bar.

Deal done between Russia and Arabs on oil production levels, but he price is still well down.
