    Default Harbour Cafe!?

We may have had something on this line before/
But i am sure there must be many out there who remember this old Harbour Cafe in Cape Town Docks!
I used to go there Years before i went to Sea as well,i particularly remember one time when i picked up a Girl there,i was then only 17 and boy what a time ! haha!
But it was well known to all Seaman, and was always so busy,a good place for a quick Cuppa and a Sarnie! Remember the Egg and Bacon Rolls Huge things that were, enough to fill any Stomach! And at a good price then too!
    Cheers

Well remembered Vernon, if we had an hour or two between service you would always see some of the lads there. On one occasion we held a 'funeral service' for an empty brandy bottle that had given us good service and slowly let it slide from a waiters cloth into the waters of the bay just about opposite that cafe.

hi vernon. i well remember the cafe if its the same one. the only place i ever saw a nickelodeon. you put a record on and had a short film of the singer singing the song. i don't know how it worked but it was very good. there was a very old black man working there with nearly white hair and he could tell some tales. i think most of the castle boys made it an afternoon visit or early evening before going up town. alf
i suggest you have a look at an author called David Fiddimore. he wrote three books. Tuesdays World, Charlies War and The Forgotten War. all about a Radio Operator in a Lancaster Bomber alf
