They call this a holiday?

After rereading Johnny's post 4# about time in port, I recalled the time in 1950 in Melbourne there was a train strike, which meant the cars we where unloading where all on the Wharf, then the wharfies went out in support, we where stuck there with half our cargo still to be unloaded. I volunteered to be night watchman I can't remember if I was sill a deck boy or Jos, second night was startled awake lying on the bench above the gangway by shouting, it was the Skipper and his wife late back on board, he told me that if i was going to have a nap make sure everyone is aboard before you lift the gangway clear, he was the best skipper I ever sailed with
During my around five or six weeks on gangway watch, I went and saw England play Aus in a cricket test match, can't remember who won but I do remember that I enjoyed the cat calls by the crowd, I got in free after following a couple of young boys in through an op penning in he fence, I remember the English Captains name was Brown.
