    Default South Africa

The South African DOT(Department of Transport) have invited interested groups in forming a committee to look at proposal to form a new State owned shipping company.

Ref#1 South Africa are past masters at having state owned companies ,they are heavily controlled by the Government (I.e. the ANC) . This has created an enormous piggy Bank of Corruption for the ANC through the manipulation of the Parastatal capital expenditure programmes. Eskom (electricity supply commission) , Transnet railway infrastructure ,and Ports . A state owned shipping company will undoubtedly expand this trend. There have been many scandal's over the years concerning these companies.
South Africa is in bed with many state entities through their membership of a trade alliance BRICS. (Brazil, Russia, India, China & Southafrica) this association has enabled state capture by Indian coglomarites, Chinese Belt & Road programme and Russian involment in their Nuclear power programme. These members of the trade block allow Russias shadow fleets to operate in order to fund its war machine.
If this comes to pass I think it will be a massive risks to world trade links as the Suez Canal link is in jeopardy and cape routes could become compromised
I wonder Who the interested groups would be in this committee?

    Regards
    Doug

Prior to the ending of Apartheid it was going well, then it all fell in a heap.
Corruption now rules the land, just look at the mansion the PM had built while many of the locals go hungry.
A nation of great wealth but only for the few, to hell with the others!!!

I remember when I was there in the 1960's with Harrison Line, because of trade Japanese were classed as white and Chinese as black. Waiters in bars etc were Indian and the cleaners/washer ups etc were African.
