    as to steering mistakes.
Today we saw the results of one, a big 16 wheeler on its side on a roundabout.
He certainly made a steering mistake to end up there.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Talking about steering? How many who did watch keeping used to make sure that they wore a cap when relieving on the wheel on certain ship that for some reason they decided to install a clock right in front of one. First step into the wheel house. Take the cap of and cover up the clock. Otherwise the shift went forever. Being on the wheel and the relief was late relieving one. Would keep ears open listening for him coming up the ladder and then swinging the wheel hard over. Then once the ship responded would swing it hard over the other way to correct it. Leaving you relief something to do correcting it lol. Rule always was? At least five minutes early to relieve.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

    Hi Les.
I was probably one of a very few who never worried if the relief man was late, as I have said in another post used to spend 8 hours on the wheel while the rest where cleaning tanks, I loved it standing there with a nice breeze coming through the lowered windows and watching the lads covered in oil strugglng with a hose.
