ha ha John, sounds about right, my now wife told me she was fed up with me turning up to take her out wearing my "uniform" - desert boots, jeans and sweater; and by the way, if you have a pint in the afternoon, dont bother coming for me in the evening.

Re: First pair of Denims.
Me, I follow my own fashion, easy here in Oz, no one comments.
Dress code is what you feel comfortable in, only down turn is the pubs, no thongs or sleeveless shirts after 1800 hours.
Hot on in a restaurant, so what my hat wear it where I like,
There are some up market places but 'normal' people do not go there.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: First pair of Denims.
First pair of wranglers i bought was when I was on the Port Victor in 1963 off to Aus & Kiwi. We us to fray the legs at the bottom by remove an inch of white cotton. On the aft deck used a heaving rope and tied to jeans at the waist and a stern cleat. Then threw them over in the sea for 2 days. Soon faded and the girls took to us in the ports with our long hair and earing in the left ear.
