Re: Bar crossed.
Should that not be Former deputy PM John Prescot has crossed the bar. He was a ships steward for 8 years and was an active member in the National union of seamen.
Certainly did well in life for someone who left school at 15.
Ruskin College in Oxford, from which he gained a diploma in economics and politics in 1965. He continued his studies, and in 1968 graduated with a BSc in economics and economic history from the University of Hull.
So certainly a bit more about him than a waiter who worked for Cunard.
Regardless of one agreed with his politics or not.

Re: Bar crossed.
John Prescott,Rest In Peace .What a life to celebrate from a boy rating in the MN to deputy prime minister, that is some achievment for a boy who left school at 15 without any qualifications .I personally have nothing but admiration for the man.
