You wonder why there are climate sceptics and deniers.
Climates do not change over night as many would try to tell us, it can take hundreds or even thousands for that to happen.
Prior to 1905 Norway and Sweden were one country, the capital being Bergen.
The region below that level some 2800 years ago had a Mediterranean climate, over the next 800 or so it changed to what it is now, sub artic.
Not my words but information in a museum in Norway.
Weather patterns of extreme levels are nothing new, there is enough history written about such events over hundreds of years.
But we are currently in a changing world where there are those who wish to impose their new concepts on the global population.
The advent of the EV is a classic example, will you buy one??
If petrol and diesel are so bad for the world why is it then that five new servos have been built in the last two years within 20 KLM of where we live??
I served my time John with the real old time mariners and learned a lot about using currents and weather to advantage. For example the Gulf Stream when going south how many tried to buck an adverse current or tide when being a mile or so further inshore one got a counter current of a favourable 2 knot current , for every current there is usually a counter current and on supposedly on 10 knot ships you were supposed to know that. Going from FNQ to Japan the fastest passage was the Jomard passage which a lot were not using as lack of navigational aids ,was non existant , I learned from old experienced seamen and tried to put their imparted knowledge into practice. This planned passage planning I have my doubts about especially where weather is concerned , I prefer to go on my own instincts , you are the one there at the scene and should be able to read the weather as well as someone 2000 miles away. James do you remember Dr David Bellamy ,he said quote Global warming is part of natural cycle and there's nothing we can actually do to stop these cycles. the world is now facing spending a vast amount of money in tax to try and solve a problem that doesn't actually exist .I share his opinion global warming is part of climate change and human intervention is like pissing into the wind.
Good to hear you Bill. Our paths obviously crossed before the Conqueror. I was trading to Finland in the Baltic Arrow, winter of 1960. Great fun and lovely people.
