Missing ship
Bit help needed, Someone asked me about a cargo ship, may have been late fourties, Built on the Tyne and disapeared in the south atlantic on her maiden voyage, Bit of a mystery because she was seen shortly before she vanished and the weather was dead calm. I remember reading the case and seeing a picture of her. Looked to be on the style of Blue Star
But I'm not sure. This guy thought she was one of the Hope ships and may have been all welded. I know it was a famous case. so maybe someone can shed a little light in my darkness. Cheers Albi

Thanks for trying Keith, I've searched the web but can't find anything about it. All I know is she was Tyne built and disapeared on her maiden voyage in the south Atlantic, without trace and in calm weather, Guy who was asking me thinks it may have been in the Thirties not the fourties as I thought, and he thought it may have been the first all welded ship, I expect that meant localy. Annoying thing is I remember reading about it a long time ago, but cant remember her name, Going back to the web to try a bit more. Cheers, Albi

Thanks Ray, That seems to tick a lot of the boxes, Doesn't seem to fit the one I remember, But does seem to be the one my mate was looking for, So maybe its my memory getting a bit fog bound, and that is the one I read about. Cheers Albi

Passed that info on to my mate who spent a long time at sea, He knows nothing about comps, but asked me to pass on his thanks, He thought he may have had a relative aboard. Sorry I sent you into the S Atlantic Keith, But I bet it was a lot warmer than the Newfoundland coast. And I still think the ship I was seeking was lost in the south Atlantic. I'l find it someday. Cheers albi
